I have been asked to put on a small exhibition (15 or so paintings) as part of the Falcarragh "An Féile Na Sean bheairice". The work will be on shown from 27th June - 20th July. This will include a selection of artwork produced over the last number of years. Work delivered today...as with these things its hard not to be nervous of what the exhibit will look like and how the artwork will be received?

Ramillies 1706-2014 the new books Copyright 2014 Osprey Publishing Introduction Well folks, its been a while ( i'm not a naturally inclined blogger ), but i felt as I just completed artwork for a book, i received the advanced copies of the new "Ramillies 1706" book, i would attempt a blog. When you get the new copies of the book its for me a mix of anxiety and excitement, will your ideas work as an illustration as a piece of visual art and to compliment the narrative of the book. Anyway heres a quick picture of the new book. This book was different in a number of ways from those i have previously worked. The Battle of Ballyshannon 1597 Impression of Ballyshannon Castle c.1590, Seán Ó' Brógáin © 2015   Introduction   Back in 2015, i was commissioned by Ballyshannon & District Museum to create a piece of artwork based on the events surrounding the Battle of Ballyshannon in 1597. The Museum, wanted the piece to show O'Donnell's Castle being assaulted by the English forces in their August 1597 campaign. This would show the castle, but also various aspects the battle.  English retreat, © 2015 Once, i had the brief and had familiarised myself with the events, it was time to hit the road and head to Ballyshannon on fieldtrip. I've always found visiting a site, a worthwhile investment of time just to see a place and get a better understanding of the topography.
